Overview of Taxation in Guinea

In Guinea, payroll taxes range from 0% for income below 1,000,000 GNF to 20% for earnings above 20,000,000 GNF. Employers with fewer than 30 employees must pay a 2% apprentice tax on gross taxable salaries, while those with more than 10 employees contribute 1.5% to the Professional Training Fund. The contracts should be in the official language, use the Guinea Franc as the currency, and align with the Labor Code. 
  • Working Hours. The standard workweek has 40 hours, spread over 5 or 6 days, with daily hours not exceeding 8. Overtime is compensated at a rate of 130% for the initial 4 hours and at 160% for subsequent hours.
  • Expats, Work Permits and Visas. Foreign employees need a visa and a work permit to work in Guinea. The expatriate must apply for a short-term entry visa, and the employer must secure the work permit.
