Tax Obligations in Gabon

Gabon’s tax system includes a progressive individual income tax (IRPP) with rates up to 25%, in addition to several mandatory payroll deductions split between employers and employees. Employees contribute to the National Social Security Fund (CNSS) at a rate of 2.50% and to Gabon’s National Health Insurance (CNAMGS) at 2%, along with a 5% Additional Tax on Wages (TCTS).   • Wages and Salary. The minimum wage in Gabon is 150,000 CFA francs. However, Gabonese government employees receive an extra monthly payment of CFA Francs 20,000 for each child, in addition to accommodation, family benefits, and transportation. 
  • Working Hours. A standard workweek in Gabon typically consists of 40 hours, divided over 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. Work beyond the regular working hours is considered overtime. It must be compensated at 1.25 times the regular hourly rate for overtime on weekdays and 1.5 times the regular hourly wage for overtime on Sundays and public holidays.
  • Vacation and Leave. All employees are entitled to 30 days of paid leave after working for 12 months and are entitled to time off on public holidays. Employees are also entitled to sick leave if they are unable to work due to illness or injury. Female employees are entitled to 14 weeks of paid maternity leave.
